Continent 8 is proud to sponsor the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) Winter Meeting, happening in beautiful New Orleans January 4-6, 2019. More than 200 attendees, including dozens of state legislators, are expected to attend.

Covering topics ranging from historical horse racing to newly-legalized sports betting, the Winter Meeting connects policymakers and gaming influencers on the future of gaming in the United States. “With four states having implemented sports betting and several more planning to do so in 2019, legislators and regulators have real-world examples to create new sports-betting schemes – or modify the ones they have… examine the current best practices and suggest how they may be improved.”

The conference agenda includes:

With our Atlantic City and multi-state expansion in the continental United States, we equip companies to take advantage of growth opportunities in sports betting and online gaming unfolding across the United States and around the world. Reach out to us if you plan on attending.

The December issue of the G3 magazine highlighted Continent 8 Technologies’ offerings into Atlantic City and the US sports betting market.

An interview with Continent 8 Chief Development Officer Nick Nally discusses how we entered the Atlantic City market back in 2014, our existing role in propelling sports betting forward with Atlantic City as a hub, and our 2019 plans.

As Nick Nally said in his interview with G3, Continent 8 has made a commitment that it will enter into every significant regulated online gaming marketing across the United States. Going forward, we will have offerings in advance of any market opening up to online sports betting in the United States.

G3 also highlights our Atlantic City expansion in a piece announcing our data center at the Atlantic City Convention Center, featuring a quote from Chief Marketing Officer, David Lejeune, that captures the significance of the expansion:

We’re creating a hub for online gaming that will connect seven states…it will also provide direct connectivity to a private global network spanning over 30 locations across Europe, Asia, and North and South America.

The Continent 8 team is thrilled to see the positive reception of our Atlantic City expansion and recognition of the significant opportunities it provides for the sports betting and gaming markets.

Professional gamer Cody Hart, 30, who lives in Cape May Court House in the offseason, plays in the official NBA2K league as a point guard for the Warriors. Some winners took home $200K, he said.

Hart sees people warming up to the idea of competitive video games.

“A lot of people look at it as a waste of time until they really understand how rewarding this field can be for somebody who excels in a competitive scene of any type of video,” Hart said. “E-sports is just growing at a rapid rate.”

Atlantic City has been positioning itself as a future hub of professional gaming. Tech companies are investing millions, including Continent 8, a firm building 6,000 square foot data center needed to handle gigantic tournaments. The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority is working on bringing competitions to either the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall or the Atlantic City Convention Center next year.

Bringing e-sports to a famed gaming-hub like Atlantic City adds a layer of legitimacy to the sport in the public’s eye.
