Andrew’s presentation provided a commentary on the Arbor 2015 Worldwide Infrastructure Security Report. Andrew explained the different types of DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks, the scale of these and how the methods used are changing as mitigation techniques keep pace with the perpetrators – a game of cat and mouse.

Our second speaker was Joe Hughes, a Director at ServiceTech. ServiceTech implement and manage a range of complex enterprise IT and network environments for customers throughout the UK and Isle of Man.

Joe’s presentation focused on Enterprise Network Security, specifically Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW) and Sandboxing technologies. Joe highlighted that in today’s climate Firewalls are required to have application awareness and include greater threat intelligence capabilities to securely protect enterprise networks, and that the use of Sandbox environments can help to expose unknown threats and thus protect the enterprise.
