NOVEMBER sees the opening of Continent 8’s multimillion-pound data centre in the Isle of Man.
Continent 8 Technologies PLC conducted a two-year programme of jurisdictional research prior to the operational launch that will take place during the month.
A spokesman said: ‘This world class data centre is designed, built and operated to the highest international standards and will form an integral part of an international private network for the hosting, co-location and disaster recovery for e-business.’
The company provides outsourced Internet infrastructure and managed hosting services to e-business. It currently has a 70 per cent share of the e-gaming world market and is often used by the Isle of Man Government as an example of the calibre of e-businesses coming to the Island.
Continent 8 has recruited a new management team locally to increase its salary output by more than 100 per cent in less than six months. The team includes accounting, IT, facilities management and marketing specialists and the spokesman said this highlighted the talent available in the Island.
He said this, along with the telecommunications and power infrastructure, were the main reasons for locating the data centre in the Isle of Man.
The company is still looking to expand its team in the Island and has also opened offices in Malta and Singapore.
It boasts a unique relationship with Mohawk Internet Technologies in Kahnawake.
