We at GBGC have just completed our global trawl of gambling statistics to produce our 5th edition of the Global Gambling Report. Ironically the one sector that has outperformed the rest is Lotteries. I say this is ironic because most National lotteries have been complaining that Internet gambling has been plundering their revenue.

In my article last month for Continent 8 Technologies I wrote about the economic difference between the two segments of the gambling industry - online and offline. In practically every market, the traditional bricks and mortar business has felt the full force of the recession but the Internet gambling business has proven to be far more resilient. During the last week of March, however, both Sportech and 888 Holdings delivered results that were down on the previous year.

The Isle of Man ratified the agreement on 19 January 2010, and the Chief Minister, Tony Brown MHK, informed the government of Malta that ratification had taken place.
